Apple Of His Eye
Have you ever felt like you’re stuck in a rut, unable to see beyond your current situation? You’re not alone. Many of us find ourselves in a place of comfort, even if it’s not where we’re meant to be. This week, we explored a powerful message from Zechariah 2 that challenges us to step out of our comfort zones and embrace the love and presence of God.
Change of Place, Change of Pace, Change of Perspective
One of the key takeaways from our recent retreat was the idea that a change of place and pace can lead to a change in perspective. This was evident during our worship night, where the boldness of our children praying for adults and sharing words from the Lord was truly inspiring. It’s these moments of stepping out in faith that can shift our perspective and draw us closer to God.
Receiving and Believing God's Words
In Zechariah 2, God calls His people to come out of Babylon and return to His presence. He reminds them that they are the apple of His eye, deeply loved and cherished. But how often do we truly receive and believe these words? Many of us struggle to accept compliments, gratitude, and affection, feeling unworthy or embarrassed. Yet, God’s words are life-changing if we receive them with an open heart.
What is Your Babylon?
Babylon isn’t just a physical place; it’s a metaphor for anything that keeps us from fully experiencing God’s presence. It could be a skewed view of God as an angry judge, a fixer of problems, or just a cheerleader. These perspectives can hinder our relationship with Him. God is calling us out of these misconceptions and into a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him.
Action Steps: Embrace God's Love
Identify Your Babylon: Reflect on what might be keeping you from fully experiencing God’s love. Is it a false view of His character? A comfort zone that you’re afraid to leave?
Receive and Believe: Take time to meditate on Zechariah 2:8, where God calls you the apple of His eye. Let this truth sink into your heart and transform your perspective.
Step Out in Faith: Just as the Israelites were called to leave Babylon, take a step of faith this week. It could be as simple as spending more time in prayer, reaching out to someone in need, or participating in a church activity.
Conclusion: Embrace the Presence of God
The point is, God wants you to know that you are deeply loved and cherished. He desires a close relationship with you, one where you can see your reflection in His eye. What will you do this week to step out of your Babylon and embrace His love? Remember, if you don’t take this step, you’ll miss out on the fullness of God’s presence in your life.
Prayer
Father, we come to You today with open hearts, ready to receive and believe Your words of love and affection. Help us to identify the Babylons in our lives and give us the courage to step out in faith. May we embrace Your presence and live out Your love in every aspect of our lives. Amen.
